Natural Gas Conservation Tips

  • Inspect and Maintain natural gas burners often to reduce usage from 2%– 12%
  • Lower the thermostats – each degree can reduce usage by 3%
  • Program temperature controls to coincide with occupancy schedules
  • Shut off nonessential equipment and spaces
  • Repair and Maintain insulation – up to ¼ of total heating system fuel costs can be attributed to thermal losses from piping, valves, and equipment
  • Lower water heater temperatures to no higher than 120 degrees and increase the insulation around the tank and pipes
  • Set refrigeration temperatures to 38 to 42 degrees and make sure the doors seals tightly
